Beauty of Hemlock Gorge

“I wish that all of nature’s magnificence, the emotion of the land, the living energy of place could be photographed.”— Annie Leibovitz

When I discovered this location, it was so stunning I had two immediate reactions. One was, Oh I can't wait to bring the group here, and the other was, Oh I am so glad to be here all by my self. There was such a special quality of peace, beauty and tranquility it felt almost like discovering a secret sanctuary so close to down town Boston.

So my dilemma was, should I keep this secret place to my self or share it with you? Larry, a long standing member of our group first told me about this place. I am eager to share the beauty of this location with you and help you see like an artist.

But I also don't feel it is appropriate to bring a large group. I am only going to take 10 on this photo field trip. This way we can maintain the feeling of a secret getaway spot. We will work with both basic and more advanced composition skills for landscape photography. There are big views from the top of the bridge and many small beautiful landscape selections along the way.
Some of the topics I will cover in this unique workshop:

• How to create two different moving water effects, freezing the motion, and slow flow.

• How to choose the most compelling composition and capture the spirit of the space.

• How to translate your experience of nature into a photograph.

• How to work with reflections and colors to find simplicity with visual chaos.

Because I am keeping the group size small, I will be able to spend more time with each of you so this session will feel like a semi private lesson. As always, I will touch upon the three fundamentals of good photography, creative SEEING, DOING the right thing technically, and BEING in tune with the subject.

It is also necessary that you be very steady on your feet. The path is steep in some spots and a bit rocky. You must have good hiking shoes or sneakers. NO FLIP FLOPS.

There is a very small parking lot at the location. Or you can take the Green Line. I will provide details once you RSVP.

THIS IS A WEATHER PERMITTING EVENT SO IF WE HAVE RAIN, I WILL RESCHEDULE. IF YOU CAN'T MAKE THE NEW DATE I WILL ISSUE A REFUND.
