Take this opportunity to have fun and be playful while taking your photography skills to a deeper level. Master photographer Suzanne Merritt is visiting the bay area from Boston and will be teaching a day long workshop on Flow-tography, the method that she developed to teach a non technical mindful approach to photography. We will start at the museum and depending upon the weather may also shoot at Lake Merritt and or Chinatown.
“In this introductory session I’ll introduce you to three Flow-tography techniques you can use immediately. Then we will PLAY with some of the practices for connecting to your experiences of beauty. You’ll begin to experiment with this contemplative method and feel the difference between taking a snapshot, and creating a photograph.
The images you’ll create through this process feel very different. They capture the seemingly hidden world that exists around us but is only revealed when we learn to go beyond the surface to the more subtle, intimate visual qualities of your life. It’s not just about making images, Flow-tography is about experiencing and photographing the moments of your life that make you feel awake, alive and creative by accessing the “flow”.

“Over the past 25 years through the study of aesthetics, taking photographs, meditation, and teaching creativity, I have developed some simple yet powerful practices that will help you enter a “flow” state by choice rather than by chance. This will liberate you to create images that express the essence of your experience. Sounds intriguing? Join me to discover the satisfaction and joy of this technique.”

Testimonials from former Flow-tography Workshop participants:
"Suzanne's ideas about photography are revelations to me. I came hoping to learn more about my picture taking and on reflection found I was learning more about myself. Suzanne creates an environment that encourages collaboration. It brought out much of my best and I will be spending a long time reviewing and gaining more. BRAVO! " Barry W.
"I really enjoyed this workshop. It allows you to feel the experience and beauty of what brings the picture to you. Instead of chasing after it. The lesson is a much needed one not only in photography but a life lesson." Kim M.
"To me, Suzanne's concept of Flow-tography is about seeing with your inner soul the beauty around us. Open yourself up to this and you will start to see what's around you in a way you have not experienced before."Lisa W.
"Suzanne's ideas about taking pictures really resonated with me. As a result I ended the day with a really high percentage of pics that I love - even with subjects I don't usually feel confident with. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to create photos with a more meaningful/emotional impact and get a break from the sometimes intimidating technical aspects of photography. Time well-spent!"
